PARVATI VALLEY EXPEDITION

The real time story of a ski expedition in the Himachal Pradesh

In 1884 Sir Louis Dane was the first man to cross the Pin-Parvati pass (5319m) in Himanchal Pradesh (India). 132 years later most of the peaks in the valley likely remain unclimbed. Next spring (April 2017) we will be setting out to the Parvati basin to explore its peaks and glaciated valleys. We decided to do it in spring so that we can combine alpinistic ascents with ski descents of snowy slopes and couloirs. The alpinistic goals are not yet fully defined and will be adapted as we go along according to the conditions on the mountain. Nevertheless, we have already identified several possible first ascents and descents.
